    The first thing I sample is from a small street cart serving what I think is some of the best deep fried pork (moo tod หมูทอดชาววัง) in Bangkok. It's moist and and extremely flavorful and goes very well with a bag of black sticky rice. After that I sit down at one of the many Isaan food restaurants and ordered som tam Thai kai kem, regular papaya salad (som tam thai), smoked catfish salad, and nam tok made with beef. Wang Lang Market wouldn't be the same without a few sweet treats too. There are many Thai desserts to choose from, but I chose to try one of the most famous Khanom Tungtag (ขนมถังแตก) stalls in all of Bangkok. The dessert is similar to a waffle that is cooked on a griddle and then topped with sweetened shreds of coconut.

        For New Year's Eve 2022 we wanted to do something a little different while also witnessing the fireworks in Bangkok, so we booked a river cruise for two on the Smile Riverside cruise boat. We embarked on our 3-4 hour voyage from the pier at ICONSIAM where we were elegantly taken up and down the iconic Chao Phraya river passing by monuments such as Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), and the Riverfront open-air mall Asiatique. With our ticket, we were able to enjoy an international buffet with a free glass of wine included, vibe to live performers singing songs from the 1970s in a combination of Thai and English, and, of course, watch the much awaited 2022 countdown. I would strongly recommend that you book your table on the upper deck with a window seat for an uncompromised view.

        Great news! 7-Eleven now offers the option to scan and pay with PromptPay, making transactions more convenient by eliminating the need to carry cash. Customers can simply open the QR code on their mobile banking app and pay at any of the 480 participating branches nationwide.

         

        On September 27, 2024, the official Consumer Facebook page announced that 7-Eleven has officially launched its PromptPay QR code payment system. The post celebrated the news, stating, “Tears are flowing #Consumers, what do you think?”

         

        With this new service, customers can easily pay for their purchases by scanning the PromptPay QR code at checkout. The system supports all major mobile banking apps.

         

        However, traditional payment options remain available, including cash, TrueMoney Wallet, credit cards, and All Points, where 100 points equal 1 baht.


        Although some users commented that the service is now available at all branches, 7-Eleven's customer service clarified that PromptPay payments are currently accepted at 480 branches. Customers are encouraged to ask the cashier if their branch supports the PromptPay option.

         

        To pay with PromptPay, follow these steps:

         

        Open your bank app and select the "My QR" option.
        Enter the amount to be paid.
        Show the QR code to the cashier for scanning.
        Complete your purchase with PromptPay.
